Jared had three cars racing this year. The one he made for Ethan last year, the one he made for Ethan this year, and the one he made for Ike this year. Between the three he got 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Good job, Jared! Oh, and Ethan and Ike too.
Thank you Jared!! If it weren't for you our boys would probably be racing a block of wood. Those cars looked awesome and Michael was so excited to get to race and then he got 2nd place!! The good thing is Jared has a whole year to prepare until he has to make THREE new cars next year.
First place went to Jake Tomlinson for whom Ernie Kamp was a stand-in for Brent. Poor Brent. He will not be happy to have missed this moment. He is usually the biggest trash-talker at these things and typically takes last place.
Pinewood Derby is serious business in our house and this is the first year in a longggg time that we haven't been involved in one, wow! We happen to own the Down and Derby movie (unless I loaned it out which is typical of me, I'll have to look) and it's all about James and apparently Jared, too. Next year ought to be a blast with all the boys, eh hem, dad's competing. I'll never forget how heartbreaking it was when after Lil' James won first every year and then Aaron took 2nd when we moved to Midland... James had met his match there. It's hilarious... Congrats to the scouts (and the dads).. fun times!!

Love that competitive spirit! Who took first place? BTW- Thanks again for tonight!
What dad beat him?

There is actually a mormon movie about pinewood derbies. I personally have never seen it but my dad says it describes a typical race to the 'T'.
That is pretty exciting that his cars did so well!

I'm glad Jared could use the pinewood derby as a distraction from "the mouse".
